'Syria belongs to all Syrians' - Tabqa meeting reaffirms commitment to March 10 Damascus-SDF agreement

"The Advisory Council of the people of the city of Tabqa and Raqqa province, in support of the Negotiation Committee in northern and eastern Syria and the transitional government, has confirmed that it will continue to implement the agreement signed between the two parties on March 10, 2025. Footage shows a meeting in the city of Tabqa attended by delegates from political parties, military forces, the negotiating committee, and representatives of the Joint Presidency of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. The meeting also included tribal elders and religious leaders. Mohammad Nur al-Deeb, spokesperson for the Advisory Council, stated that the meeting reiterated the commitment to implementing the agreement reached on March 10. He described the primary objective of the agreement as resolving the Syrian crisis through dialogue, renouncing violence and preventing further bloodshed. Jamal Nahitir, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Elders of Tabqa and spokesperson for the region’s elders, reassured Syrians that there would be no war, stressing that Syria would remain united as it has been for thousands of years. "Syria belongs to all Syrians," he added. Local media outlets quoted remarks by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) commander Mazloum Abdi, who said that a mutual understanding had been reached with the transitional government regarding the integration of military forces in a manner that serves the public interest. He noted, however, that several political and constitutional issues still require time and deeper dialogue. On March 10, the head of Syria’s transitional phase, Ahmad al-Sharaa, and SDF commander Mazloum Abdi signed an agreement stipulating the integration of all civilian and military institutions affiliated with the Kurdish self-administration into the framework of the Syrian state. However, the agreement has yet to be implemented, amid renewed sporadic clashes between the two sides, the latest occurring on December 22 in the city of Aleppo, where heavy weapons were exchanged."
