"On Wednesday, California declared a state of emergency in six counties as multiple locations in the southern part of the state were devastated by flooding that triggered severe mudslides, trapping hundreds of people in the affected areas. Footage released on Thursday shows part of Wrightwood, situated approximately 80 miles (130 km) northeast of Los Angeles in San Bernardino County, flooded by heavy rain, with torrential waters rushing through the area. The heavy downpour caused damage to buildings and vehicles, while emergency crews were mobilised to respond. Up to 280 residents were reportedly trapped, and two have lost their lives across California, according to local authorities. California has deployed its National Guard and other resources to help evacuate people from various municipalities due to the continued difficulty caused by flooding in areas previously impacted by the 2024 Bridge and Line Fires, according to reports."
