At least six killed amid explosion inside Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in Homs *STILLS*

"Footage released on Friday shows the damage caused after an explosion occurred inside the Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque on Al-Khodari Street in the Wadi Al-Dhahab neighbourhood of Homs. Syria's transitional government Interior Ministry reported that "six civilians were killed and 21 others sustained injuries of various degrees of severity". "Internal security units moved to the site, imposed a security cordon around the mosque, and the competent authorities began investigations and evidence collection to pursue those responsible for this criminal act," the report stated. According to local media, the explosion was caused by a suicide attack that took place during Friday prayers inside the mosque. Meanwhile, Syria's transitional government had not commented on the cause of the explosion or the party responsible, as of the time of this report. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the mosque targeted in the blast "is frequented by members of the Alawite community," and that the injured, including cases described as serious, were taken to the hospital for treatment."
