China has opened the Tianshan Shengli tunnel, claimed to be the world's longest. This 22.13-km tunnel significantly cuts travel time through the Tianshan Mountains. The tunnel is part of the new Urumqi-Yuli Expressway. This expressway connects northern and southern Xinjiang, reducing travel between major cities.
