'Forward escape to justify their future failure!' - CAR ruling party hits hack opposition over elex boycott

"Evariste Ngamana, the spokesperson of the Central African Republic's ruling party United Hearts Movement (MCU) refuted opposition's accusations of reported campaign activities blocking. "They are victims of their own negligence!" Ngamana said at a press conference in Bangui on Friday. "This is a 'forward escape' strategy to justify their future failure, because they will later claim they didn't have time to travel the country or that they were blocked. But by whom?" "We organised ourselves and reserved all the necessary logistics for the campaign. As the saying goes, 'He who travels far spares his horse'," he added. Ngamana also stressed that the current crisis facing the opposition is a consequence of its previous stance, when it called on its supporters to boycott the revision of the electoral rolls. The MCU spokesperson dismissed claims of opposition leaders being blocked, asking them to provide 'proof for their claims'. "I invite you to walk around the city. You will see that the opposition has put up its posters everywhere. No one has bothered them. That is a fact," he continued. Highlighting the campaign's focus, Ngamana said the MCU prioritised the 'social project' without insults, and outlined three pillars for the next seven years: peace and stability, economic recovery and infrastructure, and human capital. "I believe we are confident in our victory, but it is not an election won in advance," he concluded. Outgoing President Faustin-Archange Touadera, in power since 2016, is seeking a third term after a 2023 referendum abolished presidential term limits. The December 13 elections will also select parliament and municipal representatives, with around 2.4 million registered voters."
