Over 1.18m border crossings made on Boxing Day

More than 1.18 million people entered and left Hong Kong on Boxing Day, according to the Immigration Department. This includes 622,000 arrivals and 558,000 departures on Friday. A majority of the outbound travellers opted for the Lo Wu checkpoint, followed by the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line as the method of departure for those heading north. Of the 124,000 inbound visitors who were not returning residents, more than half were from the mainland. Most of them entered the city via the Express Rail Link West Kowloon checkpoint.
