"Thailand and Cambodia signed a ceasefire agreement on Saturday, as the delegations met at a border checkpoint in Thailand's Chanthaburi Province. Footage shows Thai Defence Minister Natthaphon Narkphanit and his Cambodian counterpart exchanging the deal at the meeting venue. "Both sides agree to an immediate ceasefire after the time of signature of this Joint Statement with effect from 12:00 hours noon local time (05:00 GMT) on 27 December 2025, involving all types of weapons, including attacks on civilians, civilian objects and infrastructures, and military objectives of either side, in all cases and all areas," a statement released by Cambodia's defence ministry read. "Both sides agree to maintain current troop deployments without further movement," the statement added. Tensions flared on the Thai-Cambodian border earlier this month. Thailand reported several soldiers and civilians killed during evacuations. Cambodia reported 15 civilian deaths and 76 injuries, while up to 422,698 individuals have been displaced. US President Donald Trump brokered a ceasefire signed on October 26 following the previous border crisis. Both governments have accused each other of breaking the ceasefire agreement."
