"Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez underscored the country's response to US pressure and threats through a nationwide deployment of food production and distribution on Sunday. During a tour of the El Valle parish in Caracas, Rodriguez emphasized that over the last five weeks of 2025, 158,000 tonnes of food were distributed, benefiting more than five million families. "This is the model that President Nicolas Maduro has asked us to build from the communes, from the communal circuits, to defeat and contain the economic blockade against Venezuela," she said. "To defeat the US blockade, to defeat a malicious, perverse blockade, where its wonderful plans are to cause suffering and pain to the Venezuelan people," Rodriguez continued. The vice president also emphasized that the model of productive communes is crucial to achieving a prosperous and independent 2026. "Venezuela's response must be productive unity," she said. "We have to shield ourselves against the threats of the current United States government, against the aggressions of the current United States government," she added. The remarks came during Rodriguez's visit to the 5 de Mayo commune in Caracas as part of the Love and Food Prosperity Plan, a government initiative to guarantee access to basic food basket items at fair prices."
