Over the past twenty years, the number of flats in Flanders has doubled. For the first time, there are now more than a million flats in northern Belgium. No less than 29 per cent of homes are flats. There are more flats than detached homes, which account for 27 per cent of the Flemish housing stock. However, to make living in a flat more comfortable, a lot of work still needs to be accomplished.
