"The streets of the capitals of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan transformed with festive decorations ahead of the New Year celebrations. Footage filmed on Friday shows Tashkent illuminated with colourful light installations, while images shot on Saturday capture Tajikistan's main New Year tree standing on Independence Square in Dushanbe. According to local media reports, 20 Christmas trees have been installed in Tashkent, where public celebrations are scheduled from December 25 to January 10. In Dushanbe, a 30-metre Christmas tree - one of the five tallest in the CIS - has been unveiled. Around the tree, festive light installations include symbolic city gates, decorative arches, oversized toys, Father Frost's house, and a Ferris wheel."
