Italy announces landmark labour quota for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Italy has become the first European nation to establish a formal country-specific labour quota for Pakistan, a move hailed by officials as a landmark development in bilateral cooperation. The new arrangement will provide employment for 10,500 Pakistani workers over the next three years, with an annual allocation of 3,500 positions. According to the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development’s report today, the yearly intake will comprise 2,000 non-seasonal and 1,500 seasonal roles. A spokesperson for the ministry underscored the significance of the agreement, highlighting it as a major step forward in labour collaboration between Pakistan and Europe. To further strengthen this partnership, a second meeting of the Pakistan-Italy Joint Working Group is scheduled to take place in Islamabad in February of the coming year.
