Army officer martyred, five terrorists killed in Bajaur operation: ISPR

Security forces killed five terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Khar area of Bajaur district on Monday, the military said in a statement. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched on reports of the presence of terrorists linked to an Indian proxy group “Fitna al Khawarij”. During an intense exchange of fire, Major Adeel Zaman, 36, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan district, was martyred while leading his troops from the front. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists, who were involved in attacks on security forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians. The ISPR said sanitisation operations are underway to eliminate any remaining terroristsin the area. It added that Pakistan’s security forces will continue counter-terrorism operations under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
