A father suspected of fatally stabbing four of his children and seven others in Paramaribo died by suicide in a police cell. The 43-year-old, reportedly suffering from mental health issues, hanged himself after being arrested and hospitalized for injuries sustained during his apprehension. The rampage began at his home, claiming the lives of his children, grandparents, and neighbors.
