Sen. Bong Go aids 65 displaced workers in Mamburao

SEN. Bong Go has provided additional aid to 65 displaced workers in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro. Go urged the beneficiaries to appreciate Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad), a program by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). “In my travels nationwide, I saw the importance of providing jobs to our fellowmen, especially to the indigents, the hopeless, and the helpless,” he said, speaking in Filipino and English. “Times are hard. Many [Filipinos] still affected by several crises have yet to return to work. Let us applaud DOLE for this program,” he added. Go said Tupad aims to help displaced workers and those whose livelihoods were affected. “Take this opportunity to help your families while at the same time participating in national recovery,” he added. Go said he filed Senate Bill 177, or the proposed Rural Employment Assistance Program, to provide temporary employment to those affected by crises such as economic hardship, displacement, or seasonal employment, and to those who reside in rural areas. During the aid distribution at the Mamburao Municipal Gymnasium, the displaced workers also received snacks, food packs, vitamins, balls, shirts, fans, and shoes from Go’s team.
