Former Abad chairman Jiwa passes away

KARACHI: Arif Yusuf Jiwa, former chairman of the Association of Builders and Developers and former vice president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, died after a prolonged battle with cancer. Jiwa, a prominent figure in Pakistan’s construction sector, had been working on various construction projects in Islamabad in recent years while undergoing cancer treatment. His body was transported from Islamabad to Karachi, where his funeral prayer was offered late at night at the Rahman Mosque in New Hayat Housing Scheme. He was laid to rest in a local graveyard. Abad Chairman Hassan Bakhshi, former Chairman Mohsin Sheikhani, and other members of the association paid tribute to their former leader. “Arif Jiwa played a key role in the stability of business individuals in the construction sector and the promotion of the best construction activities in the country,” Abad members said in a statement. “His contributions to the construction sector will always be remembered.” SM Tanveer, patron-in-chief of the United Business Group, along with UBG President Zubair Tufail, Chairman Khalid Tawab for the Sindh region, Secretary-General Hanif Gohar, spokesperson Gulzar Feroze, and core committee members Malik Khuda Bakhsh and Tariq Haleem, expressed deep sorrow over Jiwa’s passing.
