ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level meeting on Monday to review the government’s preparations for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to Switzerland, where he is scheduled to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF). Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is due in Switzerland to participate in the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, to be held in Davos from January 19 to 23, 2026. Ishaq Dar directed officials to ensure maximum interaction with global heads of state and government, as well as leaders of major international financial and business institutions attending the forum. During the meeting, the Foreign Secretary and Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to Geneva briefed the participants on the proposed WEF programme, agenda, and a slate of scheduled bilateral and multilateral engagements. The deputy prime minister emphasized the need to actively explore partnerships with the private sector, underscoring that meaningful engagement at Davos should translate into enhanced investment inflows, expanded trade opportunities, and stronger economic cooperation for Pakistan.
