‘Treacherous attack’- Turkey says six ISIS terrorists killed after nationwide police operation turns deadly

"Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on Monday that three police officers were killed by gunmen ‘affiliated with ISIS’ in the northwestern province of Yalova. Speaking at a press conference in Ankara, Yerlikaya said the officers were attacked during a major security operation simultaneously targeting 108 locations across 15 Turkish provinces. “One of these operations was carried out in Yalova at 2:00 a.m. Terrorists linked to ISIS opened fire on our heroic police officers. As a result of this treacherous attack, three officers were martyred. Eight additional officers and one neighbourhood guard were also injured,” he explained. The minister added that security forces had killed six terrorists, who were identified as Turkish nationals. Last week, the authorities arrested 115 individuals suspected of ISIS membership that had reportedly been planning attacks during the Christmas and New Year holidays. "
