MANILA, Philippines — A newborn earlier reported abducted from the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center in Marikina City has been recovered and reunited with his family, Mayor Maan Teodoro said on Tuesday. The infant, identified as Baby Ryu, was reported missing on Monday, December 29, triggering a police investigation after he was taken from a hospital ward shortly before his scheduled discharge. Authorities said a woman allegedly posing as a nurse approached the baby’s mother and claimed she needed to conduct a routine screening, prompting the family to hand over the infant believing she was a legitimate health worker. When the baby was not returned hours later, relatives alerted hospital officials, leading to the review of CCTV footage and coordination with law enforcement. Teodoro confirmed that the suspect is in police custody.
