China is holding its second day of drills around Taiwan, which it claims as its own, simulating a blockade of the island's key ports and assaults on maritime targets. The drills are the sixth since 2022, and the second to include a blockade simulation. But 'being capable of an invasion does not mean you're going to launch it' says Charles Parton, Senior Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute in London and ex-diplomat in Beijing.
