MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said its official social media pages will be temporarily offline from 8 p.m. on December 31 until 6 a.m. on January 1, 2026. It said the expanded number coding scheme will be suspended on January 1 and 2, and will resume on January 5. The agency said traffic monitoring and road assistance will continue during the period, and advised motorists and the public to call the MMDA Hotline 136 for urgent concerns on traffic conditions, road assistance, traffic regulations, and related services. The MMDA reminded the public to avoid using firecrackers due to the risk of fires and injuries. The agency urged the public to use safer alternatives such as party horns, sound systems, pots and pans, vehicle horns, or by watching organized community fireworks displays instead.
