Around 3.04 million people in Japan are believed to suffer from alcohol use disorder, the same level as in the previous study in 2018, highlighting the challenges in informing the public about the risks of drinking, a study showed Tuesday. The study by the National Hospital Organization Kurihama Medical and Addiction Center found that about 640,000 people were suspected of having had an alcohol addiction at least once in their lives, with the figure remaining roughly unchanged from 2018.
