"Dubai's Burj Khalifa was lit up with a stunning fireworks display as the UAE celebrated the New Year on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. Footage includes the epic countdown show on the stroke of midnight, which lasted over eight minutes. The celebrations centred on the iconic tower, with synchronised pyrotechnics and LED displays. At 828 metres high, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world and has become a focal point for Dubai’s annual festivities. Countries across the Global South and beyond are ringing in 2026 with fireworks, concerts and other spectacular performance events - with special live coverage from leading BRICS nations including China, Russia, Brazil, the UAE, and many more. BRICS has gone from strength to strength over the course of 2025, welcoming 10 new partner nations - Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Nigeria and Vietnam - as well as Indonesia as a full member.
