KARACHI: In a significant step toward ensuring basic facilities and upholding the rights of all citizens, particularly minority communities, the Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has announced the construction of 100 solar-powered homes for deserving families of the Hindu community in Union Council Chowkandi, District Malir. The announcement was made during the Mayor’s visit to Malir, on Wednesday, where he oversaw ongoing development projects and citywide initiatives aimed at improving the living standards of Karachi’s residents. Accompanied by senior party leaders and local representatives, the Mayor engaged directly with community members, sharing plans for the upcoming housing project and other development schemes. The project will provide modern, sustainable, and energy-efficient homes equipped with solar power systems, addressing both the housing and energy needs of the beneficiaries. While speaking to local residents, the Mayor also shared encouraging news regarding the city’s future development. In the coming year, Karachi will receive increased funds and several mega projects would be executed for upgrading the city’s infrastructure to meet international standards, covering roads, public facilities, utilities, and urban amenities. The Mayor spoke of the commitment of the Pakistan People’s Party under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Faryal Talpur to serve the people and expand the scope of public welfare initiatives in Karachi. He noted that the party’s consistent focus on public service had proven the resilience and dedication of PPP against political propaganda and baseless criticism. “This city has always belonged to Bhutto and it will continue,” the Mayor claimed. He emphasized that the construction of solar-powered homes for minorities reflects Bilawal Bhutto’s inclusive vision, ensuring that every citizen, irrespective of their religion or background, enjoys basic facilities, dignity, and security. The project is part of a larger strategy by KMC and PPP to transform Karachi into a modern, sustainable, and inclusive metropolis, with a particular focus on housing, minority welfare, and environmentally friendly initiatives. The Mayor reiterated his commitment to accelerating public service delivery, improving civic facilities, and implementing projects that uplift the quality of life for all residents of Karachi.
