‘Smart Safe Cities’ project extended to 98 tehsils of Punjab

LAHORE: In order to enhance better law and order situation, urban surveillance and public safety mechanisms in the province through the use of modern Technology Punjab government has decided to establish Smart Safe Cities in 98 tehsils across Punjab. In this regard a ceremony was held at the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore to ink a memorandum of understanding MoU. The agreement was formally signed by Managing Director National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) Brigadier Azmat Shabbir and Managing Director Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) Muhammad Ahsan Younas. According to the details, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, under this agreement NRTC will establish state-of-the-art Smart Safe Cities across 98 tehsils of Punjab by December 31, 2026. Managing Director PSCA Muhammad Ahsan Younas said while speaking at the ceremony, that under the partnership with NRTC, Smart Safe Cities projects in 18 cities including Multan, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Jhelum, Attock, Sargodha and Dera Ghazi Khan have been completed 100 percent during Phase-I. He added that under Phase-II, Smart Safe Cities projects in an additional 19 cities will be completed by March 31, 2026. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
