Festive flame-up! - Firefighters race to save Warsaw Christmas tree from rogue firework

"A large Christmas tree briefly went up in flames as Warsaw rang in the New Year, after fireworks ignited part of the festive installation in the city’s historic Castle Square early Thursday morning. Footage shows revellers filming as fire spread across sections of the 27-metre-tall decorative tree, moments after midnight. Firefighters arrived quickly and brought the blaze under control before it could engulf the structure. The fire service said the incident was reported 18 minutes after midnight, adding that the tree was ultimately saved and electricity to the installation was cut before crews began their intervention. Deputy Commissioner Jacek Wisniewski of the Warsaw Police Headquarters said the fire was caused by firecrackers and fireworks used during the celebrations."
