Traffic on the Accra–Kumasi Highway came to a standstill on Tuesday after a severe gridlock forced police to divert vehicles through adjoining towns, a move that quickly triggered fresh congestion and frustration among commuters. The gridlock, which stretched for several kilometres, left hundreds of motorists and passengers stranded for hours. Police officers at the scene redirected traffic through alternative routes, including Amunua Praso and Amanfokrom, in an attempt to link vehicles back to Nkawkaw and decongest the main highway.
