A major traffic gridlock on the Accra–Kumasi Highway brought vehicular movement to a near standstill, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded for hours. In an attempt to ease the congestion, police at the scene diverted traffic through alternative routes, directing motorists through towns such as Amunua Praso and Amanfokrom, with the aim of reconnecting vehicles to Nkawkaw.
