"Ghana's capital, Accra, hosted the vibrant 'Countdown to Africa' event, bringing together Ghanaians, diaspora members, and visitors to celebrate the upcoming year 2026. Footage captured on Wednesday shows crowds gathered at Black Star Square, creating a festive atmosphere with cultural performances and music. The sky was lit up by fireworks, marking a lively start to the new year. Attendees reflected on 2025 and shared their hopes for 2026. "2025 was a good year - ups and downs - but we learnt, we lived, and we loved. I'm blessed, I'm happy, and I'm healthy," artist NayNay said. "We have high expectations [for 2026]. At the same time, we're at ease, knowing who we are and the God we serve. So, it's going to be amazing," added another attendee, Andrea A. Osei. Ben Anane Nsiah of the Ghana Tourism Authority noted that despite challenges, it had been a good year overall for him and his family. The festivities at Black Star Square highlighted Ghana's rich culture and community spirit, providing a colourful and joyous start to 2026. "
