Gold, foreign currency, narcotics: ASF makes significant recoveries in 2025

KARACHI: The Airports Security Force (ASF) has confiscated 118.676 kilograms of contraband substances, Rs 1.5 billion worth foreign currency and around 98.5 kilograms of gold worth over Rs 2 billion during 2025. According to the details, the ASF has released comprehensive statistics of its successful anti-smuggling operations conducted across all Pakistani airports throughout 2025, revealing significant recoveries of narcotics, gold, and foreign currency. ASF personnel demonstrated professional expertise and vigilance in executing operations at various airports nationwide from January through December 2025, successfully thwarting numerous drug smuggling attempts. The year-long crackdown resulted in the recovery of substantial quantities of narcotics, including 26.863 kilograms of heroin, 88.7 kilograms of hashish, and 3.113 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ice). The total drug seizures amounted to 118.676 kilograms of contraband substances. In operations targeting precious metal smuggling, ASF recovered 98.5579 kilograms of gold during the same period. The seized gold has an estimated total value of approximately Rs 2 billion 936 million, representing a major blow to illegal gold trafficking networks. The security force also conducted extensive operations against money laundering and foreign currency smuggling, resulting in significant recoveries: USD 1,908,493 British Pounds 420,480 Euros 202,510 Saudi Riyals 2,799,385 Additional foreign currencies in various denominations were also confiscated, bringing the total estimated value of all currency seizures to approximately Rs 1 billion 507 million. ASF spokesperson emphasized that the Airports Security Force maintains a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, money laundering, and smuggling activities.
