PEC begins flagship GET Placement Programme

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has commenced its flagship Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Programme, under which 600 young engineers have been placed in 40 national departments across the country. The engineers formally joined their respective organizations on Thursday, January 1, 2026. The fully PEC-funded, six-month programme is structured as a “house job” style initiative aimed at bridging the gap between academic education and practical industry requirements, comprising five months of field exposure and one month of focused skill development, with a monthly stipend of PKR 50,000 provided to each trainee. The engineers have been placed in a wide range of public sector institutions and organizations. These included the Planning and Development Departments of the governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Balochistan, as well as NESPAK, Local Government and Communication and Works departments of the Government of Punjab, National Grid Company (NGC), Pakistan Airports Authority, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), various power distribution companies, and other major public sector organizations.
