CPP disputes military report on New Year clash in Occidental Mindoro

CITY OF CALAPAN—The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) said it was observing a unilateral ceasefire when government troops reported a clash with suspected New People’s Army (NPA) members on Thursday in Sitio Mamara, Barangay Cabacao, Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro. In a social media post, the 203rd Infantry Brigade said troops from the 76th Infantry Battalion and the 5th Scout Ranger Battalion encountered what it called a “Communist Terrorist Group” in the area.
