PAD announces ‘Wheat Yield Contest 2025-26’

LAHORE: The Punjab Agriculture Department has announced a province-wide “Wheat Yield Competition 2025-26”, offering cash prizes worth millions of rupees along with tractors to farmers achieving the highest per-acre wheat yield. According to a departmental spokesperson, the competition will be held at both provincial and district levels. At the provincial level, the first prize will be an 85-horsepower tractor, the second prize a 75-horsepower tractor, and the third prize a 60-horsepower tractor. At the district level, the first prize will carry Rs 1 million in cash, followed by Rs 800,000 for second place and Rs 500,000 for third place. The spokesperson said that the last date for submission of applications is January 31, 2026. Farmers owning five acres or more of agricultural land are eligible to apply, subject to terms and conditions mentioned in the application form. Application forms can be obtained from the offices of the Assistant Director Agriculture (Extension) and Agriculture Officer (Extension) of the respective tehsils. Forms may also be downloaded from the official website of the Agriculture Department Punjab. Photocopies of the application form will also be accepted, said the spokesperson. However, members of the National and Provincial Assemblies, Senators, their immediate family members, government officers of Grade-17 and above, all employees of the Punjab Agriculture Department, and progressive farmers who are members of divisional or district committees are not eligible to participate in the competition.
