LAHORE: Several more petitions filed against Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immoveable Property Act (PPOIPA) on Thursday have been referred to Lahore High Court Chief Justice for their disposal by some larger bench. A citizen Ghulam Rasool and others filed the petitions. The petitioners contended that the Act in question is against the fundamental rights of the citizens. They, therefore, prayed to the court to declare the impugned Act as unconstitutional. A number of similar petitions had already been referred to Chief Justice for constitution of a large bench for their disposal in accordance with the law. The LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum has already suspended the operation of the Committees constitution under the Act. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
