MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported an 82 percent increase in road crash injuries this holiday season compared to the same period last year. From Dec. 21, 2025, to Jan. 2, 2026, a total of 1,113 road crash injuries have been reported. Of the number, 71 percent were involved in motorcycle accidents, which resulted in 5 deaths. The DOH further reminded the public to be cautious when on the road, urging them to wear protective gear such as helmets and seatbelts, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, get enough rest, and not exceed the speed limit.
