2025 was Finland’s second warmest year on record

Finland experienced its second warmest year in recorded history in 2025, according to data released by the Finnish Meteorological Institute on 2 January. The national average temperature for the year was 4.5°C. This figure exceeds the 1991–2020 long-term average by 1.6°C. The warmest year on record remains 2020, though 2025 approached that benchmark across most of the country. Throughout the year, monthly temperatures remained above average in nearly all regions, with only May, June, and August registering slightly below-average figures.
