Navy promotes three rear admirals

KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy has promoted three Rear Admirals— Abdul Munib, Syed Ahmed Salman and Faisal Amin— to the rank of Vice Admiral, according to a statement issued by the Directorate General Public Relations (Navy). Vice Admiral Abdul Munib was commissioned in the Operations Branch of the Pakistan Navy in 1992. He is a graduate of the Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, the National Defence University Islamabad, and the Naval War College Command Course in the United States. During his distinguished career, he has held several key command and staff appointments, including Commanding Officer of PNS Alamgir, PNS Larkana, PNS Akram and PNS Aatish. He has also served as Commander Surface Task Group-2, Commander 25th Destroyer Squadron and Commander Combined Task Force-151 at Headquarters US NAVCENT, Bahrain. His staff roles include Naval Secretary, Director General Naval Intelligence, Director General (C4I) and Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (Operations). He is currently serving as Commander Pakistan Fleet. In recognition of his meritorious services, he has been awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-i-Basalat. Vice Admiral Syed Ahmed Salman was commissioned in the Supply Branch of the Pakistan Navy in 1991. He is a graduate of the Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, and the National Defence University, Islamabad. Over the course of his career, he has served in a range of important command and staff positions, including Director Inventory Control Point and Director Procurement (Navy). He has also served as Secretary to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Director Surface Stores, Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Supply) at Naval Headquarters, and as Attaché Defence Procurement in the United Kingdom. He is currently serving as Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (Supply) and Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (Admin). He has been awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) for his services. Vice Admiral Faisal Amin was commissioned in the Operations Branch in 1992. He is a graduate of the Royal College of Defence Studies, United Kingdom, the Army Command and Staff College, Quetta, and the National Defence University, Islamabad. His career includes command of PNS Rajshahi and PNS Alamgir, as well as appointments as Commander 18th Destroyer Squadron and Commander Surface Task Group-1. He has also served as an instructor at the UAE Naval College in Abu Dhabi. His staff appointments include Director Naval Operations, Director Naval Development Plans (Platform), Principal Secretary to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Operations), Naval Secretary at Naval Headquarters, and Additional Secretary-III at the Ministry of Defence, Rawalpindi. He is currently serving as Commander Coast. In recognition of his distinguished services, he has been awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-i-Basalat.
