CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Two soldiers were wounded in a clash with suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro, the Philippine Army said on Saturday. In a statement, the 203rd Infantry Bantay Kapayapaan Brigade said the encounter happened on New Year’s Day, in Sitio Mamara, Barangay Cabacao. In a social media post, the brigade said the firefight erupted as troops were conducting security operations in the area as part of efforts to maintain peace and stability.
