Nearly 1,000 calls over mental health concerns received during holiday season—DOH

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported that the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) hotline received almost 1,000 calls during the holiday season. A total of 961 calls were logged from Dec. 21, 2025, to Jan. 2, 2026, which is expected to surpass 1,000, yje DOH said as it concludes its surveillance on Jan. 5. The agency added that the most common concerns raised by the callers were issues with romantic relationships, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. The DOH added that the NCMH 1553 hotline remained open to individuals in need of mental health services.
