MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said it would continue to manage traffic round-the-clock as motorists returned from the provinces although it has ended the access of provincial buses to Edsa. More than 2,000 personnel are stationed across major thoroughfares, transport terminals, and congestion-prone areas to ensure a safe and orderly return to Metro Manila, the agency said in a Viber message in Saturday. The deployment follows the MMDA’s holiday traffic measures, onen of which temporarily gave provincial buses access to Edsa during late-night and around-the-clock periods from late December into the New Year. The MMDA told The Manila Times via phone call, however, that the Edsa access ended on Jan. 2, with the highway now back to regular operations. Traffic enforcers, however, remain stationed at key points and terminals to maintain road safety and manage post-holiday traffic flow.
