MANILA, Philippines — A Filipina was among at least 10 individuals arrested by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in operations on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. In a statement Friday (US time), the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) identified the arrested Filipina as Karen Empaynado. According to the DHS, Empaynado has been convicted of burglary, grand theft, and battery in Deltona, Florida. The DHS further said it also arrested three allegedly undocumented immigrants from Mexico; three more from Honduras; and one each from Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba.
