Int’l human rights group backs probe into killing of Filipino farmer

MANILA, Philippines — The International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICHRP) called on the Philippine government to investigate the killing of Negros Occidental farmer-leader Warlita Jimenez. According to the ICHRP, two armed men wearing bonnets supposedly broke into Jimenez’s home and shot her multiple times late on the night of Dec. 23. “ICHRP enjoins the international community to amplify the call for justice for the killing of Warlita Jimenez,” the group said in a statement Friday.
