A wave of severe winter weather has spread across Finland, bringing poor driving conditions to the south and east and tightening frost across the rest of the country. Snowfall combined with drifting powder has reduced visibility and increased accident risk in southern and central regions. The Finnish Meteorological Institute has issued warnings for hazardous driving conditions in several provinces, including Uusimaa, Pirkanmaa, Central Finland and parts of eastern Finland. Fintraffic’s traffic management centre warned that icy road surfaces, particularly at junctions and slip roads, remain a serious hazard.
