LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has recorded a 35 percent increase in revenue during first six months of the current financial year. “The positive impact of the Chief Minister Punjab’s effective strategy has begun to materialize as the PRA records a significant increase in revenue collection,” a spokesperson for the authority reported on Saturday. Following the implementation of wide-ranging reforms, the PRA has achieved a record 35 percent growth in revenue during the first half of the current financial year compared to the corresponding period of last year, she added. During July–December of the ongoing financial year, the PRA collected Rs. 149.5 billion in total revenue, whereas Rs. 112.1 billion were collected during the same period of the previous financial year. This substantial increase has been made possible through the introduction of modern reforms and the establishment of a transparent and efficient tax collection system within the authority. The growth in provincial revenues is a key factor in ensuring financial stability and enabling the timely completion of development and welfare projects across Punjab, the spokesperson remarked.
