World : Foreign Residents Make Up 9.5 Pct of People In 20s In Japan

TOKYO, Jan 4 (Bernama-Kyodo) -- Foreign residents made up 9.5 per cent of the people in their 20s in Japan in 2025, more than double the 4.1 per cent in 2015, a Kyodo News Agency analysis of government data showed Saturday, highlighting their potential role in sustaining the country's social welfare system amid a shrinking population of young Japanese.
