'We congratulate President Trump!' - Netanyahu lauds 'perfect' US operation in Venezuela amid Maduro capture

"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his support for US military actions in Venezuela, which resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his spouse on Saturday and their subsequent transfer to the US. "I must say that in Latin America in general, there is currently a transformation that we are seeing, and several countries are returning to the American axis and, not surprisingly, also to the relationship with the State of Israel," he said during a press conference in Jerusalem on Sunday. "We congratulate this, we congratulate President Trump for his decision, we also salute the American military forces who carried out a perfect operation. We know how to appreciate such a thing," he continued. Netanyahu's remarks come a day after the US launched 'large-scale' strikes on Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife. US Attorney General Pam Bondi said the Venezuelan leader was charged with a 'narco-terrorism conspiracy' and other drug and weapons charges. Caracas declared a national emergency, condemned 'extremely serious military aggression' and said the US was trying to "seize Venezuela's strategic resources, particularly its oil and minerals." It drew widespread condemnation worldwide, including from Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, and other Latin American nations, as well as from BRICS nations like Russia and China. The EU and European nations called for 'international law' to be respected. Opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Machado said that her party was 'ready to enforce the mandate and take power.'"
