Several areas in PH to have scattered rains due to 3 weather systems

MANILA, Philippines — Some places would experience scattered and isolated rain showers due to the effects of the three prevailing weather systems in the country, the national weather bureau said Monday. Weather specialist Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in a 5 a.m. briefing that the Visayas, Bicol region, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon would likely have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the convergence of hot and cold air called the shear line. “Flashfloods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains would be possible in these areas,” the Pagasa forecaster added. Meanwhile, the easterlies—winds that carry humid and warm weather—have been affecting Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Palawan, where similar weather patterns occur within 24 hours, according to Pagasa. The effect of the northeast monsoon, locally known as ‘amihan,’ would be felt over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Laguna, Batangas, and the rest of MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), where overcast skies with light rains would be possible. The same weather system would also affect Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain are likely, according to Pagasa’s latest advisory. The rest of Mindanao would experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also due to the easterlies, it added.
