But we didn't like Maduro..! - European nations attack Venezuelan president as Global South turns fire on US

"European nations like the UK, Denmark and France appeared to want to shift the focus on to Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro's record - as BRICS and Global South nations blasted the US for Saturday's military intervention and 'capture' of the leader - at a heated session of the UNSC on Monday. "Denmark does not recognise Nicolas Maduro as the legitimate president of Venezuela following the lack of transparency and integrity in the 2024 presidential elections, which failed to meet basic democratic standards. In Maduro's attempts to cling to power, his authoritarian regime grew increasingly oppressive," Copenhagen's representative claimed, while the UK added "The United Kingdom has long been clear that Maduro's claim to power was fraudulent." "The United Kingdom wants to see a safe and peaceful transition to a legitimate government that reflects the will of the Venezuelan people," the representative added. France's representative alleged that "Nicolas Maduro has systematically answered with the repression of dissenting voices, members of the opposition, and of civil society, as well as through multiple arbitrary detentions." Nicolas Maduro was grabbed by US forces alongside First Lady Cilia Flores in the early hours of Saturday, after strikes on Caracas and other areas - and held, according to DC on 'narcoterrorism' charges. Caracas declared a national emergency, accusing Washington of attempting to "seize Venezuela’s strategic resources, particularly its oil and minerals." At the UNSC, the US insisted that there was 'no war against Venezuela' and called it a 'surgical law enforcement operation'. Other countries, including Russia, China and Colombia condemned the latest military action. Russian UN representative Vassily Nebenzia said there was 'no justification for US crimes in Venezuela' while China's representative added that the country was 'deeply shocked by bullying behaviour' from Washington. The African A3 said it had 'deep concerns'. Saturday's attack drew widespread condemnation worldwide, including from Latin America, as well as from BRICS nations such as Russia and China and around the world. The EU and European nations called for 'international law' to be respected but avoided directly condemning the US actions."
