Sunflower sensation - Fields originally planted for oil crop bloom into tourist magnet in Narsingdi

"A sunflower field along the banks of Bangladesh’s Meghna River in Narsingdi, originally planted for edible oil production, has blossomed into a major tourist attraction, drawing thousands of visitors. Footage from Tuesday shows large fields of the yellow flowers as visitors walk through the farm, taking photos and enjoying nature. "We initially cultivated sunflowers as a crop for oil seeds," explained cultivator Mahbubur Rahman. He explained that after cultivation began eight years ago, people started visiting. "Since then, we have started cultivating sunflowers here as a tourist spot. We have achieved good success as a tourist centre in the last four years." "Such a large sunflower garden is not often seen in winter,” noted visitor Sabrin Sume. She added that the riverside environment "makes the mind feel good. It is a pleasure to spend time with family and friends." An entry fee of 50 taka (0.4 USD) is charged per visitor, with garden owners reportedly earning thousands from the venture."
