Person rescued after being trapped under vehicle in Westmere, Auckland

A person is seriously injured after being trapped under a vehicle in a central Auckland suburb.  Fire and Emergency said its staff had to lift the vehicle to free the person at Westmere.  They were called to the scene on Chester Ave at 11.10am.  Hato Hone St John said the person was seriously injured and had been taken to Auckland City Hospital.  Police confirmed emergency services responded to an incident involving a car and a pedestrian.  A person was seriously injured after being crushed by a vehicle on Chester Ave, Westmere. Photo / Michael Craig  It comes just days after a Wānaka man died after being trapped under his vehicle.  Police named him today as 85-year-old David Simmers.  Police said they were called to his home in Roche St on Monday.
