Senior officer of MNFS&R transferred

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Wednesday transferred Amir Mohyuddin, a BPS-21 officer, from his position as Secretary of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFS&R). Mohyuddin, who had been holding the post on an acting basis, was swiftly replaced by Capt Saif Anjum (BPS-22) (retd), the current Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production. Anjum, an officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), will now take on the additional charge of MNFS&R for the next three months or until a permanent federal secretary is appointed. Two brief notifications from the Establishment Division confirmed the reshuffle, though sources at the ministry offered no explanation for the sudden move, instead expressed surprise, as the officer had been performing well in terms of policy-making for agricultural growth in the country. The move has prompted immediate speculation over the true motivations behind the decision, with insiders hinting at ‘internal power struggles’. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
